2007 World Cup competition starts tomorrow on the Troja course in Prague with C1 qualification runs beginning at 9:00 am. American Tad Dennis is early off the line at 9:01:40, followed by Benn Fraker and Jeff Larimer at 9:28 and 9:29 respectively. US K1 women Ashley Nee, Zuzana Vanha and Caroline Queen also race in tomorrow morning's qualifier.
Qualification rounds consist of two combined runs, with the top 20 C2 and top 40 K1, C1 and K1W finishers progressing to the Semifinals. K1 and C2 men race the qualifier on Friday afternoon, followed by demonstration runs on the newly designed course for the Semifinal and Finals. US K1 men include Brett Heyl, Scott Parsons and Jim Wade. C2 men racing for the US are Rick Powell and Casey Eichfeld (both Junior athletes) and Scott McCleskey and Austin Crane (US Team veterans in C2 and C1 respectively).

Keen young American slalomists demonstrated the results of their hard training on the whitewater of the Wisconsin River today in the first of two races which will determine the 2007 USACK Junior National Slalom Team.
There were few clean runs on a course which tested paddlers' technical precision and strategic planning and execution as well as fitness.

Athletes from age 11-18 are training on the Wisconsin River in downtown Wausau, WI this week in preparation for the 2007 US Junior Whitewater Slalom Team selection races scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

Sprint event results combine with yesterday's classic results to determine West Team Trials results for the 2007 Junior Wildwater World Championships contested on the Animas River, Durango, CO.
Sarah Kunz and Anna Pierotti (K1W) and Lucas Palko-Schraa and Alex Dodge (K1) have qualified to represent the US at the 2007 Junior Wildwater World Championships to be held on the Saluda River, SC and at the US National Whitewater Center in Charlotte, NC in July.

Junior wildwater racers braved windy and snowy conditions with air temperatures in the 30's during midday competition in the Classic event of the 2007 Western USACK Wildwater Team Trials in Durango, Colorado.
The Animas River was running at 2080 cfs, with water temperatures in the just-more-liquid-than-snow range. Against a backdrop of local Cinco de Mayo celebrations, paddlers from pre-teen to 18 years old tested their downriver racing skills against the rest of the field of western US juniors.
